Gum (Periodontal) Disease

Gum disease is a serious bacterial infection in your mouth caused by a gradual build-up of plaque. When plaque hardens it becomes tartar, which can harm your gums and cause them to become inflamed.

Bad breath, tooth sensitivity, receding gums, abscessed teeth, and bleeding/swollen gums are signs of gum disease. If you are concerned you may have gum disease, we strongly recommend you contact us immediately.

Proper brushing and flossing everyday is your best chance at preventing gum disease. Though, regular dental assessments and cleans are necessary to remove tartar and treat advanced gum disease.

You can learn effective daily plaque removal methods and oral hygiene maintenance techniques for home during a consultation with one of our dental hygienists.
